Starting over again!

So I have really been reevaluating this whole Health & Happiness thing, and I must say it has taken quite a turn.
As many of you are aware, and for those of you who are not, I have been very ill over the last year or so, no one could figure out what in the world was going on, even though it was obvious to all something was very wrong.
Many many different symptoms, but mostly extreme fatigue, I could sleep 8-10 hours and wake up completely exhausted, and for those who know me, I usually have energy to spare on 5-8.
Bottom line; after spending a lot of time and testing at the Cancer Center here in Las Vegas, I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus &Hemolytic Anemia (which apparently accompanies Lupus in some cases)
I am SO relieved, as my daughter said to me, "Mom, this is the BEST bad news I have ever heard!" I do not have cancer like the signs were pointing to, and everything I have can be managed by lifestyle change, diet, and medication as needed.
So, here I sit, feeling Blessed beyond measure, knowing I have everything in the world to be grateful for, so now to start the change.
I know it will be a process, old habits die hard.. growing up in El Paso Texas, my blood is made of Mexican food, and that, well lets just say is not the healthiest food one could put in their mouth! SInce I have NO desire to give mexican food up entirely, (not sure if I even could) I will try and figure out ways to make "healthy mexican food" I a always up for a challenge..
So now my focus is NOT on weightloss as it was before, it is completely and all about getting "HEALTHY" and with that the weightloss will happen.
I think its funny in a sad kinda way, how I have sabotaged myself focusing on ALL the weight I have to loose.. it is not about the number, it is about how you feel, eating the good things your body needs in order to sustain itself, young or old, & getting exercise, the weightloss is the per that stems from this.. it really is easy in my head... it is just a matter of taking it a day at a time, and implementing the right choices each day!
I am Blessed to have the opportunity to change my lifestyle for the better, a chance some people would give everything to have.
Thanks for reading this, for your love & support,
CHERI

  4. Wow, what a story! That IS the best bad news :)
I love that your new focus is to get HEALTHY, and not so much the weight. I think that is the best way to look at it. I'm excited for you Cheri, and I will be here to support you every step of the way.
I agree, we need to find a way to make mexican food healthy. Melted cheese is my weakness :)

  6. Hi, I'd like to invite you to check out a website I'm working on. I have quite a bit of work to do, as it won't launch until Jan 1, 2011.. but I think you'd really like it - and you would be able to encourage and inspire other women who are trying to get healthy ((me included!)). Its going to be a free/interactive site... I'm excited about it.

    :)
